Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

SECOND HALF EQUALIZER EARNS MEN'S SOCCER DRAW WITH ROBERTS WESLEYAN, 1-1

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer Team earned their second draw in three games earlier today as a late equalizer earned them a tie with Roberts Wesleyan University, 1-1.  The Redhawks scored the game's first goal just over ten and a half minutes into the game and held the lead for nearly 50 minutes.  The Dolphins then drew even in the second half on Miguel Espinosa's team-leading fifth goal of the season and went on to secure a 1-1 draw.  The Dolphins end the day 2-4-4 overall and 0-2-2 in conference play.  The Redhawks are now 3-4-4 on the season and 2-1-2 against the ECC.

Though Tamas Nagy's team-high eighth goal gave his team an early lead, the Dolphins still got the better of the shot tally in the first half.  CSI attempted 5 shots to Roberts Wesleyan's 4, but of those 9 shots, only two were on target.  The Dolphins also attempted the final three shots of the half and took the momentum into the intermission.

Following halftime, the Dolphins maintained complete control over possession and did not surrender a shot during the final 45 minutes of the match.  However, they remained behind by a goal until the 61st minute when Espinosa found the back of the net for the fifth time this season.  The equalizing goal was one of 7 shots attempted by CSI in the second half.  The Dolphins would also put two more shots on goal late in the game, but they would not be able to take the lead as they settled for the 1-1 draw.

The win earns the Dolphins a point in the conference standings for the second time in their last three games, but the team is still in search of their first conference win.  The Dolphins also earned a season-high 8 corner kicks and the two teams combined to commit 31 fouls in the match.

Men's Soccer will be back in action on Wednesday when they face the University of New Haven on the road at 6:30.
