GAMEDAY: BASEBALL CONTINUES SPRING TRAINING TRIP WITH FIRST MATCHUP AGAINST FELICIAN IN OVER 20 YEARS

2/26/2023 6:00:00 AM

Myrtle Beach, SC - The College of Staten Island Baseball Team will continue their Spring Training trip in Myrtle Beach this afternoon as they take on the Golden Falcons of Felician University.  The Dolphins enter today's game 1-2 following a split of yesterday's doubleheader against Adelphi, and the Golden Falcons come in 3-5 on the season.  Today's meeting will be the first time these two teams have faced one another since the year 2000 when they split a pair of games.

In a small sample size of just three games Domenick Castiglione has picked up right where he left off last season at the plate.  He has collected four hits in his first ten at-bats, two of those going for extra bases.  After struggling in their first game of the season at the plate, the Dolphins scored a combined ten runs across two seven-inning games yesterday.  The CSI bats will look to continue their production at the plate against a Felician pitching staff that comes in with a 10.40 ERA.  At the plate, the Golden Falcons have hit .251 as a team.  They are led in batting by Haiden Walters and Durai Genao who come in hitting .400 and .358 respectively.  The CSI pitching staff has pitched to a 4.68 ERA thus far bolstered by nine shutout innings in the first of two games against Adelphi yesterday.  Though the Dolphins have hit just .215 at the plate through their first three games, Dolphin pitching has held opponents to a respectable .276 batting average against them.
