GAMEDAY: BASEBALL GOES FOR SPLIT OF FOUR-GAME SERIES AGAINST QUEENS

3/27/2023 6:00:00 AM

Flushing, NY - The College of Staten Island Baseball Team wraps up a four-game series against Queens College today as they head back to Flushing in search of a split of their season series with the Knights.  The Dolphins come in 7-11 on the season and 1-2 against conference opponents following a split of two games played at home against Queens yesterday.  The Knights moved to 13-5 overall and 2-1 against the East Coast Conference after splitting the two games with the Dolphins at the CSI Baseball Complex.

Coming off an improbable comeback on Friday to defeat the Dolphins 10-9, the Knights won big in game one yesterday.  After the Dolphins pulled to within a run in the third, the Knights went on to win by ten in the first of two games.  In game two, John Esposito led the Dolphins to the victory with a complete game, ten-strikeout effort.  The CSI win snapped the Queens winning streak at eight and ended a streak of seven consecutive wins for the Knights over CSI.

Vincent Weigele had a big day for the Dolphins yesterday and delivered what ultimately went down as the game-winning hit in game two yesterday.  He is now the team's second-leading hitter on the season trailing only Michael Kehoe in batting.  Anthony Fontana and Andrew Ramirez combined for four hits and five RBI's in the 15-5 Queens win in game one.  Each then added two more hits in game two against Esposito in the team's game two loss.  Both teams should have plenty of arms available for today's game as well.  Each side used only five pitchers in yesterday's doubleheader and were afforded the benefit of a day off in between Friday's single game and yesterday's doubleheader.

Gametime - 1:00 PM
Location - Flushing, NY
All-Time Series - Queens leads, 19-7
Last Meeting - 3/26/23: CSI won, 3-1
