4/5/2023 10:00:00 AM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Baseball Team breaks from conference play this afternoon as they return home for a doubleheader against East Stroudsburg University.  The Dolphins come in 8-15 on the season and the Warriors enter the CSI Baseball Complex with a record of 24-4.  Today will be the first time that these two teams have faced one another.

The Dolphins wrapped up a four-game series with Molloy University on Monday and suffered a one-run loss, 4-3.  With the win, the Lions took three out of four games from the Dolphins in conference play.  The Warriors were last in action on Monday against Mansfield as they swept a PSAC doubleheader from their conference rival.  With the pair of wins, East Stroudsburg extended their win streak to six games.

A.J. Vigliotti is coming off an East Coast Conference Player of the Week selection and is now leading CSI in batting at .407.  Michael Kehoe and Vincent Weigele are also hitting well above .300 and Shendi Ulaj comes in as the last of four Dolphins hitting above that mark on the season.  Ulaj's 12 RBI trail only Vigliotti who leads the team with 19 following a six-RBI game last week against Molloy.  Following a complete game shutout effort last week against the Lions, Ryan Kehoe earned Pitcher of the Week honors from the East Coast Conference.  The sophomore comes in leading the Dolphins in ERA, wins, strikeouts, and batting average against.  Kehoe is in line for s start today against the Warriors, but it remains to be seen if he will take the mound in non-conference play.

The Warriors are led in hitting by a pair of players hitting above the .400 mark on the season in Mike Kelly and Jack Rothenhausler.  Each also has an OPS of over 1.000 and are slugging at the .500 mark or better.  As a team, the Warriors come in hitting .305 and they have scored six runs or more in five straight games.  More impressive than East Stroudsburg's offensive numbers this season has been the team's pitching.  All three of their pitchers who have started at least seven games come in with an ERA below 3.40 on the year.  Both Brent Francisco and Chase Nowak, the team's top two starters, enter today's doubleheaders with an ERA well below 2.00.
