CSI SOCCER KICKS OFF SEASON WITH NYC SCAVENGER HUNT AHEAD OF WEDNESDAY SCRIMMAGES

8/24/2023 11:00:00 AM

New York, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's and Women's Soccer Teams kicked off the 2023 season with an opportunity to participate in a unique team-building activity that took them to lower Manhattan this past weekend.  On Saturday, the Dolphins boarded the Staten Island Ferry to New York City and took part in a scavenger hunt in which members of both teams placed into groups and tasked with solving a variety of riddles.  Each clue involved a landmark within Battery Park and the surrounding area, and members of the Men's Soccer Team and Women's Soccer Team were partnered together in a race to see which team could complete the challenge the fastest.

On the heels of Saturday's event, the two teams returned to the pitch for their final days of practice ahead of next Thursday's season opener.  This set the stage for a pair scrimmages against Dominican University at Dolphins Soccer Park on Wednesday.  First up, the CSI men jumped out to an early 2-0 in the opening minutes against the Chargers, but the visitors were able to battle back and force a 3-3 tie.

In the second game of the afternoon, the CSI women also took an early 2-0 lead in their game against the Chargers.  However, Dominican would respond with two unanswered goals to even up the score and force a 2-2 tie.  For Women's Soccer, this scrimmage is their only preseason action.  As for Men's Soccer, they will host New Jersey City University on Saturday in their final action ahead of the 2023 regular season.
