Annadale-on-Hudson, NY - After an offseason filled with changes and new additions to the program, The College of Staten Island Cross-Country Team opens the 2023 season today as they take part in the Fred Pavlich Invitational.  The Dolphins have competed in this meet every season since 2018 and today will mark the fifth time the program has participated in the event.

The CSI men have experienced past success in this particular meet dating back to their time as a Division III program.  Back in 2018, the men finished 11th in the field of 18.  In their first year as a Division II program in 2019 they finished 14th in the field of 20.  However, the Dolphins surged toward the top of the standings in the 8K the following year as they finished 2nd.  Last season, they finished 8th in the field of 11 teams.

The CSI women have also competed in this event every season since 2018 including a 12th place finish in 2018 and an 18th place finish in 2019. After the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the women competed in the 2021 and 2022 as individuals.  Individual results were not published for the meet last season.

Along with new Head Coach Akil St. Louis, the Dolphins welcome twelve new runners to the roster this season, six men and six women.  The newcomers will join seven returners for the Dolphins, five men and two women.  This group of 19 student-athletes will represent a Cross-Country program that is celebrating its 40th anniversary this season.
