RACEDAY: CROSS-COUNTRY BACK IN ACTION FOR SECOND MEET AT FRED PAVLICH INVITATIONAL

9/28/2024 6:00:00 AM

Annadale-on-Hudson, NY - The College of Staten Island Cross-Country Team is back in action for the first time since early-September today as they take part in the Fred Pavlich Invitational.  The Dolphins will be competing in this meet for the sixth time dating all the way back to their history as a Division III program in 2018.

Last time out, the Dolphins opened the season at the Adelphi Panthers XC Invite.  In that meet, it was a tenth place finish in a field of fourteen teams for the CSI men.   The CSI women placed sixth in a field of thirteen.  Wayne Stephenson registered the 19th-best time overall in the 8K with a 27:55.4 mark to lead a squad of six CSI men.  Three of five CSI women, Angelina Guerriero, Elizabeth Nicotra, and Alexandrea Jackson, placed in the top 40 out of nearly 100 runners.

Among the runners who competed in this meet for the Dolphins last year were Stephenson, Guerriero, Nicotra, and Jackson.  Matthew Amato and Ibrahima Diallo are also among the returners who competed at the Fred Pavlich Invitational last year in an effort which saw the CSI men place 13th overall.  The women did not qualify to place as a team with just four runners, but like the CSI men, they placed two runners in the top 100 of a massive field.

Today's meet can be followed in real-time with live result at the link near the bottom of this preview.  Detailed results will be available in our meet recap this evening.
