1/12/2024 9:00:00 PM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Indoor Track & Field Team competed in their first meet of the new year earlier today as they took part in the Spartan Invitational.  The meet, which took place at the Ocean Beeze Track & Field Complex, is hosted by fellow ECC member St. Thomas Aquinas College.  Today's outing marked CSI's fifth appearance in the meet dating back to their time in Division III.

The highest finish for the CSI men came from Vincent Ohenhen in the 60-Yard Dash as the CSI junior record-holder registered an 11th-place time of 7.09s in the field of 92.  Fellow program record-holder Steven Elcock took 39th in the 200-Meter Dash competing in a field of 110 runners and Wayne Stephenson finished just outside of the top half of the field in the 1-Mile.  Stephenson's time of 4:36.26 was good for a new program record, four seconds ahead of the previous mark.  A pair of relay teams competed for the Dolphins in the Distance Medley Relay as well while Dominik Hric and Jamel Reynolds represented the Dolphins in throws.

The top finish for the CSI women came from Sofia Dulisova in the High Jump as she took 4th with a height of 1.60m.  Inioluwa Ogunfowora finished in the top half of a 71-runner field in the 60-Meter Dash, and both Skylar Pointer and Aryanna Finkelstein finished in the top half of the Shot Put field.  Pointer took 12th in the Weight Throw as well and was joined in the top half of the 48-thrower field by Ava Thompson who finished in 21st.

The Dolphins are back in action next Friday when they will compete in the Gotham Cup.  That meet will bring them back to Ocean Breeze for the second consecutive week and will mark the program's fifth appearance in the meet.
