1/25/2024 8:00:00 AM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving Team ended the regular season with a pair of victories on Senior Night at The Tank as they defeated Brooklyn College 138-34 and 96-78.  With the victories, the CSI men finish the regular season with a record of 6-4 and the CSI women end the year with a record of 5-7.  The CSI men avenge a loss to Brooklyn last time the two teams met in 2020 and the CSI women extend their winning streak against the Bulldogs to 16 meets.  Ahead of tonight's meet the Dolphins also recognized seniors Sam Rozenfeld and Maxim Kleyer.  The duo both debuted with the Dolphins in the 2021-2022 season and will be graduating from the Macaulay Honors College with a GPA above 3.50.

An abbreviated meet program opened with the Dolphins securing the win in both 200-Yard Medley Relay events.  The CSI women narrowly edged out the Bulldogs with a time of 2:07.90 while the men took both first and second place points with times of 1:41.43 and 1:41.50.  In the 200-Free, Aurelia Barbagallo and Katherine Ebrahim took the top two spots for the CSI women and Nicholas Tartaglione, Elliot Radov and Hassan Matar took the top three spots for the CSI men.  14 additional swimmers then competed in the 50-Free in which Brooklyn scored their first wins of the night for both the men and women.  Edna Melendez then took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:24.38 before the CSI men swept the event for the Dolphins led William Kwan.

The Dolphins competed unopposed in Diving with both Jordan Swanson and Jacqueline DeFranco posting scores above 200 in the 1-Meter event.  Josiah Rivera was the lone competitor for the CSI men.  Jessica Johnson scored  another win for CSI in the 50-Fly before the CSI men took first through third led by Tartaglione.  The Brooklyn women then took the 100-Free, but David Poggioli took first for the CSI men with a time of 50:55.  Kwan and Melendez each scored another first-place finish in the 50-Back before the Brooklyn women earned another win in the 50-Breast.  The CSI men led by David Fayngersh took the top three spots in the 50-Breast before the Dolphins wrapped up the meet with a pair of victories in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay.

Last night's meet was the last outing for the Dolphins ahead of the 2024 Northeast-10 Championship meet.  The meet extends over four days from February 15-18 and will see the Dolphins make their debut in the conference championship as associate members of the conference for Swimming & Diving.
