Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

DOLPHINS CAN'T HOLD ON TO EARLY LEAD IN LOSS TO KNIGHTS, 6-2

Flushing, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer Team returned to the site of their 2023 East Coast Conference playoff appearance earlier tonight as they fell to the Queens College Knights, 6-2.  The Dolphins took the lead in the tenth minute by a score of 2-1.  However, the Knights scored each of the next five goals on their way to a 6-2 victory.  The Dolphins fall to 2-6-1 overall and are now 1-3-1 in conference play.  The Knights improve to 6-4 on the season and remain unbeaten in conference play at 4-0.  Queens now leads the all-time series with CSI 8-7 as well.

It took the Dolphins just 33 seconds to go in front as Brendan Maguire scored the first of his two goals to put the Dolphins ahead, 1-0.  Queens got even five minutes later when Harry Cooke scored the first of his three goals to even the score.  It didn't take long for Maguire to put the Dolphins back in front with his second goal, but this is the last time the Dolphins would score.  Cooke would find the back of the net twice more before halftime, and the second of those two goals would put the Knights ahead for good.

After 12 shots in the first half, the Knights would attempt another 15 shots in the second half.  Three of those would find the back of the net, all scored by different Knights.  First Carlos Almeida made it 4-2 in the 65th minute.  Four minutes later, Jason Udo would extend the Queens lead to three.  Tommy Gunn then scored the final goal of the match with six minutes remaining to make it 5-2, and the Knights would go on to win by that final score.

All three of Maguire's shots were on target and his pair of goals gives him five on the season.  Miguel Espinosa and Peterson Larose each added two shots, and Larose, along with five other Dolphins, played the full 90 minutes.  Among them was goalkeeper Justin Karaburan who finished with six saves, Billy Pavlou, Bryan Garcia, Judley Deplan, and Yousef Dardeir.

The Dolphins will be back on the road for the next game in one week when they head to Waltham, Massachusetts for a matchup with Bentley University.  Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
