MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING SCORES WIN OVER PACE IN SECOND CONFERENCE MEET

11/2/2024 10:00:00 PM

Pleasantville, NY - The College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving Team participated in their second NE-10 meet of the season earlier tonight as they visited the Setters of Pace University.  For the CSI men, it was a decisive 174-111 victory over the Setters, their third straight against Pace.  In the women's meet, Pace defeated the Dolphins for the tenth consecutive time, 195-67.  The CSI men improve to 3-1 on the season as the women fall to 1-3.  The Pace women improve to 3-0 and the men fall to 0-3.

The CSI men earned a win in the 200 Yard Medley relay by less than half a second to open the meet.  Soon after, William Kwan and John Kapp proceeded to take the top two spots in the 1000 Free.  Andi Bajollari earned the Dolphins another first-place finish in the 200 Free before Pace scored first-place points for the first time in the 100 Back.  Pace also took first in the 100 Breast before Nicholas Tartaglione earned the Dolphins nine points by taking first in the 100 Fly.  Anthony Attenborough and Vlad Siniagovskii extended the CSI lead finishing one and two in the 50 Free.  Matt Bernstein also placed first in both 1-Meter and 3-Meter Diving.  Attenborough and Kwan would each add two more first-place finishes in across four separate events, the 100 Free, 200 Breast, 100 Fly, and 200 IM.  Finally, the meet concluded with Pace avenging their loss in the opening relay by narrowly edging out the Dolphins in the 200 Free Relay.

Jessica Johnson earned the CSI women the first top finish of their meet in the 100 Breast, and she secured another win soon after in the 50 Free.  Jacqueline DeFranco once again earned the Dolphins a win in 1-Meter Diving, but she came up just short in the 3-Meter event.  Johnson continued her stellar meet with another first-place finish in the 200 Breast, but this would be the last first-place score that CSI would earn in the women's meet.

The Dolphins will be back in action next week as they visit Montclair State for a meet with both Montclair and Hunter College.  The men will face just Montclair and the women will face both Montclair and Hunter.  That meet is scheduled for one week from today at 12:00 PM.
