ALARCON BECOMES THREE-TIME ECC PLAYER & DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK, JOINED BY MALLORY AS AWARD-WINNER

Staten Island, NY - Jenalyse Alarcon continues her outstanding start to the season as she was named both ECC Player of the Week and ECC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in as many weeks to open the season.  Alarcon posted averages of 17.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3 steals and 1.5 blocks per game across two contests during the past seven days.  The Dolphins went 2-0 in two games during the third week of the 2024-25 season scoring wins over Wilmington University and Pace University.  Following a dominant win against Wilmington on Wednesday, the Dolphins came from behind to defeat Pace in overtime on Saturday.  Earning his second ECC weekly accolade of the season was Messiah Mallory who was named the Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.  Mallory averaged 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2.5 steals as the Dolphins went 1-1 in two games.  Also joining Alarcon and Mallory on the ECC Weekly Report was JJ Chestnut.  The junior was named to the ECC Weekly Honor Roll on the heels of a game-winner on Saturday concluding a week during which he averaged 18.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists.

Alarcon has now been named both the ECC Player of the Week and ECC Defensive Player of the Week in all three weeks of the season

Alarcon posted a 21-point effort in the Dolphins loss against Pace on Saturday and hit two clutch free throws in the closing seconds to tie the game and send it to overtime.  Defensively, she has posted at least three steals in all but one game this season after a four-steal effort on Wednesday and a two-steal effort on Saturday.  Through three weeks, the senior is averaging 19.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and nearly 4 steals per game.

Mallory was named Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week earlier today

Mallory helped lead Men's Basketball to another 1-1 week behind a pair of double-digit scoring efforts and a pair of two-block games.  Offensively he averaged 13.5 points across two contest, and defensively, he added 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per alongside two blocks.  In Saturday's win against Bentley. the senior finished with 17 points, six rebounds, two blocks, and a steal.
