TRACK & FIELD EARNS FOUR ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS AT 2024 ECC INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Track & Field Team competed at the 2024 ECC Indoor Championship yesterday and earned four All-Conference honors for their performance in ther fourth ECC Indoor Championship meet.  Overall, the CSI men placed 8th among the nine competing programs and the CSI women placed 8th out of 11 participating programs.

For the CSI men, Vincent Ohenhen earned his team points with a 6th place finish in the 60-Meter Dash.  Consistent among the best in the conference in the event this season, he posted a time of 7.13s in the conference championship.  Ryan Tierney and Wayne Stephenson finished just outside of scoring in the Mile with times of 4:50.41 and 4:53.75 respectively.  In the 400-Meter, Steven Elcock earned the best placement of the meet for the CSI men taking 2nd with a time of 50.81s.  This earned him a spot on the All-Conference First Team and put him two seconds off of the top time.  Both Ohenhen and Elcock also earned points in the 200-Meter finishing in 3rd and 4th place respectively.  This earned each of them a spot on the All-Conference Second Team.

The CSI women earned point in both Track and Field events as Sofia Dulisova scored for the team in the High Jump with a height of 1.55m.  Elizabeth Nicotra scored for the women as well in the Mile taking 5th place with a time of 5:51.79.  The highest scoring event for the team was the Weight Throw which saw Ava Thompson and Skylar Pointer combine to earn 10 points.  Pointer posted a distance of 13.27m to take 5th while Thompson broke the program record in the Weight Throw with a distance of 14.57m.  This earned Thompson a second All-Conference First Team honor for the Dolphins in addition to her new program record.  Pointer also earned points in the Shot Put with a distance of 10.57m.

Following yesterday's ECC Championship, the Dolphins still have two more meets on the schedule.  First, they have the Fast Track Last Chance Invitational on Friday followed by the potential for NCAA Nationals on March 8th.
