MEETDAY: TRACK & FIELD CLOSES REGULAR SEASON AT CRIMSON OPEN

2/8/2025 7:00:00 AM

Boston, MA - The College of Staten Island Indoor Track & Field Team will close out the regular season today as they compete in the Crimson Open for the first time in program history.  Today's meet, hosted by Division I Harvard University, is the final meet for the Dolphins ahead of the 2025 East Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship.  It is also the second straight meet away from Staten Island after the Dolphins opened the season with four consecutive meets at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Complex.

Two weeks ago at the Dr. Sander Scorcher, Ibrahima Diallo placed third overall in the 400-Meter Dash with a personal best time of 50.66s, the best time in the ECC.  Karran Riley placed fourth in the same event with a time of 50.79s competing in a field of 48 runners.  Adonijah Washington earned the Dolphins another top-five finish placing third in the Triple Jump. Elizabeth Nicotra then posted another personal best in the 800-Meter with a time of 2:29.70.  The second day of the meet two weeks ago was highlighted for the Dolphins by a pair of program records for the men.  First, Jeremiah Downer set another new personal best and program record in the Long Jump with a distance of 6.13m.  Finally in the 4x400 Relay, Vincent Ohenhen, Riley, Steven Elcock, and Diallo posted a time of 3:27.58, the best in program history.

It was later announced the following week that the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released their first National, Regional, and Conference polls of the season. In the East Coast Conference regional poll, the CSI Men's Track & Field Team was ranked fifth while the women were ranked ninth. In the first regional poll of the season, the CSI men were ranked 13th and the women were ranked 16th.  The first poll comes in the midst of another record-setting season for the CSI Indoor Track & Field program which has seen the team receive multiple ECC Track Athlete of the Week honors and additional Honor Roll mentions.
