DOLPHINS COMPLETE FINAL OUTING AHEAD OF CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP AT NYU DIII INVITATIONAL

2/3/2024 12:00:00 PM

New York, NY - The College of Staten Island Indoor Track & Field Team competed for the last time before the ECC Championship yesterday as they took part in the Division III Invitational hosted by New York University.  The meet spanned deep into the evening and saw the Dolphins compete in one of the largest fields of competitors that they have been a part of all season.  Among the teams CSI encountered in the meet were many familiar foes including old rivals from the CUNYAC and other Division III programs that CSI has faced many times in the past.

Vincent Ohenhen finished with the fourth best time in the preliminary heats for the 60-Meter Dash and went on to place 7th for the Dolphins in the finals with a time of 7:05s.  In a very crowded field, this was the highest placement the Dolphins earned in any individual event.  In a field of nearly 90, Steven Elcock finished 15th in the 200-Meter and Wayne Stephenson placed 18th among nearly 80 competitors in the 800-Meter.  Ryan Tierney was also in the top half of the field in the 800 as he took 34th overall.  Ohenhen, Elcock, and Stephenson were joined by Fortune Uzo to post a 6th place finish in the 4x400 Relay coming less than half a second short of posting a new program record.  Dominik Hric also represented the CSI men in Throws achieving a personal-best of 11.15m in the Shot Put.

Inioluwa Ogunfowora impressed for the CSI women once again as she competed in both the 60-Meter and 200-Meter for the second consecutive week.  The senior took 24th and 30th in a packed field.  Angelina Guerriero and Alexandrea Jackson each placed near the middle of the field in the 800-Meter and Sofia Dulisova once again placed top-five in a field of eleven in the High Jump with a height of 1.55m.  Lastly, the women's Throw unit was led by Skylar Pointer'ss 13th place finish in the Shot Put.  Aryanna Finkelstein also took 21st in the event with a season-best effort and joined both Pointer and Ava Thompson participating in the Weight Throw.

The Dolphins will next compete in the East Coast Conference Championship on Sunday, February 18th.  Prior to the meet, Head Coach Akil St. Louis will join the Dolphin Pod for the season 4 premiere.  That episode will debut on CSI Sportsnet the Friday before the Championship meet at 7:00 PM.
