SEVENTH INNING GAME TWO RALLY FALLS SHORT AS SOFTBALL DROPS PAIR ON DAY FOUR IN FLORIDA

Winter Haven, FL – The College of Staten Island Softball Team played games seven and eight on their Florida trip earlier today and dropped a pair of results to fall to 2-6 at The Spring Games.  In game one, the Dolphins were shut out for the first time this season when they lost 11-0 to West Virginia Wesleyan College.  In game two, the Dolphins trailed 7-0 and were on the verge of being shut out again before a seventh inning rally brought the tying run to the plate.  However, the CSI rally ended there as they fell to Lynn University, 7-3.

GAME 1
The Dolphins fell behind by double digits in the first inning of their game against the Bobcats and were never able to mount enough offense to put the Wesleyan lead in jeopardy.  Beyond the first, CSI pitching allowed just one run the rest of the way, but the Dolphins would only register three hits.  For the first time this season, the Dolphins failed to score a run as they went on to open day four in Florida with an 11-0 loss.

GAME 2
The Dolphins fell behind early in game two as well as Lynn University scored twice in the second inning.  The Fighting Knights would add another run to their lead in the fourth before breaking the game open with a four-spot in the fifth.  For the second straight game, the Dolphins struggled for offense, but that would change in the final inning.  With two outs, a walk, passed ball, wild pitch, and single brought home the first CSI run.  Consecutive walks followed to force home another run. and an infield single plated a third.  This brought the tying run to the plate for the Dolphins, but the rally would end here as the Dolphins fell, 7-3.

The Dolphins return to the Diamondplex one final time tomorrow when they will face Clarion University and Tiffin University.  Live stats and live audio will be available for both games tomorrow.
