NICOLE SARCONE ELEVATED TO ROLE OF SENIOR WOMAN ADMINISTRATOR

5/31/2024 12:00:00 PM

It was announced last week that College of Staten Island Women's Basketball Head Coach and CSI Athletics Finance Assistant, Nicole Sarcone has been elevated to the role of Senior Woman Administrator within the Athletics Department.  Sarcone joined the Dolphins as Women's Basketball Head Coach ahead of the 2018-2019 season immediately making a strong impression with a 19-8 overall record in her first season.  The Dolphins also qualified for the postseason that year with a 12-4 record in the Division III City University of New York Athletic Conference, and went on to win a playoff game on their home floor.  The following year, the program not only announced its move to NCAA Division II and the East Coast Conference, but it was also announced that Sarcone had been elevated to a full-time role within CSI Athletics as Finance Assistant.  That position, which she undertook alongside her coaching duties, made her an integral part of the budget and finance operations team for CSI Athletics.

"Nicole has shown dedication and commitment to improving the standards for CSI," said Director of Athletics Chase Licata.  "I appreciate her reliability and hard work for our department. Nicole will help us navigate the future of Athletics, and we are already grateful for her contributions. We have a very talented group of females here in the Athletics Department, and I'm confident Nicole will keep raising the bar for us."

Since Sarcone's appointment as Women's Basketball Head Coach in 2018, the team became one of the first to qualify for the postseason as a Division II program in 2022-2023.  The team then became the first to win a Division II playoff game and narrowly missed becoming the first to reach a conference championship.  This past season, the Dolphins reached the playoffs for a second consecutive season and came up just short of earning their second Division II postseason win.

Beginning with her appointment as Finance Assistant in 2019, Sarcone has also played a major role in helping CSI Athletics navigate the challenges presented by budgeting and finance during the transition to Division II.  Now having spent nearly five years in that position, and close to six at the College of Staten Island, she assumes the title of Senior Woman Administrator.

"I am very excited to get started in my role as Senior Woman Administrator," Sarcone said.  "I want to thank Director of Athletics Chase Licata for the opportunity to serve in this position within our department.  I look forward to working with and being a resource for our hard-working student-athletes, coaches and administrators."
