ALARCON AND MALLORY NAMED ECC SCHOLAR-ATHLETES OF THE YEAR

6/23/2025 11:00:00 AM

It was announced earlier today that Jenalyse Alarcon and Messiah Mallory have both been named East Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for their respective sports as part of the ECC end-of-year awards.  Both have maintained academic excellence throughout their careers while serving as the driving force behind the success of their respective programs.  Alarcon has posted a 3.81 GPA during her four years at CSI while Mallory has posted a 3.66 GPA.

Alarcon's Scholar-Athlete of the Year award adds yet another accolade to a historic four-year career.  She was named the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division II Player of the Year in 2025 and led the Dolphins to the conference championship for the first time in program history.  Alarcon also improved her numbers during each season that she returned to the program and played her best when it mattered most in the postseason.  A 34-point effort in her playoff debut against UDC,  18 points and 12 rebounds during a rematch with the Firebirds last year, and 23 points in this year's ECC Championship Semifinal against Mercy are all among her career highlights.  She was also named the ECC Player of the Year and earned a spot on both the ECC All-Tournament Team and D2CCA All-East Region First Team.  Finally, she departs the program as CSI's Division II record-holder in numerous categories and was named the CSI Athletics Female Athlete of the Year at the Finnies last month.

Mallory was named the ECC Preseason Player of the Year ahead of the 2024-2025 season and ended his career with another outstanding season for Men's Basketball.  Mallory led the team in scoring with 14.6 points per game and in rebounding with 7.4 rebounds per game.  He was also a three-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week and was named ECC Player of the Week once.  Mallory helped lead the Dolphins to the postseason for the third straight year, and he departs as one of the the best two-way players in the history of the Men's Basketball program.  He is also a two-time CSI Male Athlete of the Year.
