Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

DOLPHINS FALL TO RED HAWKS IN CONFERENCE PLAY, 4-0

Rochester, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer Team fell to the Red Hawks of Roberts Wesleyan University in conference play earlier today by a final score of 4-0.  The Dolphins are now 2-5 on the season and 1-2 in conference play following the defeat.  The Red Hawks are now 3-3-1 on the season and 1-1 against the ECC.  The win for Roberts Wesleyan gives them a 2-0-2 lead in the all time series.

The Dolphins came out strong early with shots by Koray Arslan and Miguel Espinosa, but it was the Red Hawks that struck for the game's first goal off the foot of Jack Hopson.  Facing a one-goal deficit, the Dolphins outshot the Red Hawks 5-4 from that point until halftime, but neither team would score again in the first 45 minutes.  Getting into the shot column for the Dolphins during that stretch were Arslan and Espinosa for a second time along with Badr Mesrar, Brendan Maguire, and Billy Pavlou.

After the halftime break, each team registered a pair of shots during the first fifteen minutes of the second half, but neither side scored the game's second goal.  This changed in the 60th minute when Tamas Nagy doubled the Roberts lead to a pair.  Following one more Dolphins shot by Mesrar soon after the goal, the Red Hawks went on to take the last seven shots of the game.  Two of those found the back of the net, one by Archie Murphy and another by Julian Silva.  With the game now out of reach for the Dolphins, Roberts took the win by a final score of 4-0.

Several Dolphins logged big minutes in the game including Espinosa who played 82 and led the team in shots with four.  Yousef Dardeir and Pavlou each played the full macth and Brian Kerilu was one minute shy of doing the same.  Mesrar tallied the lone shot on goal for the Dolphins who finished with 10 shots against Roberts Wesleyan's 18.  In goal, Justin Karaburan made four saves while Red Hawks goalkeeper Eric Jewson made one.

The Dolphins return home on Wednesday when they will continue conference play against St. Thomas Aquinas College.  Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 PM at the CSI Outdoor Track & Field Complex.
