1/20/2025 7:19:00 PM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving Team hosted their final home meet of the 2024-25 season earlier today as they welcomed the Baruch College Beracats into The Tank.  Ahead of the meet, the Dolphins recognized eight seniors, Katherine Ebrahim, Morgan Novello, Jessica Johnson, Jordan Swanson, Matt Bernstein, Nicholas Tartaglione, David Poggioli, and Anthony Attenborough.  Following the ceremony to honor the seniors, the Dolphins defeated the Bearcats in a pair of hard-fought meets that came down to the final events.  The CSI women defeated Baruch 121-101, and the CSI men hung on to defeat Baruch by three, 117-114.  The win improves the CSI men to 5-3 and moves the women to 3-7.  The men and women for Baruch end the day 6-1 and 7-2 respectively.

The meet opened with a Dolphins victory in both the Men's and Women's 200 Yard Medley Relay followed by a win for Novello in the 1000 Free.  In the 200 IM, Johnson claimed another individual victory for the women while the men picked up their first individual victory in the 100 Yard Fly.  In Diving, both the men and women earned the Dolphins points competing uncontested.  Jordan Swanson and Matt Bernstein were competing in the final home meet of their CSI careers.  Swanson was joined by Jacqueline DeFranco competing in both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter event while Bernstein competed alongside Yubal Parra.  Parra, competing for the second time as a Dolphin, posted a pair of new program records in the meet breaking both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter six-dive score records.  In the 1-Meter event he tallied a score of 319.55, and in the 3-Meter event his score totaled 328.45.

In addition to the strong showing by Anthony Attenborough winning the 100 Fly, Johnson posted another first-place finish for the women in that same event for the women.  After the 100 Fly, the Dolphins were held without another first-place finish until four events later in the 100 Back when Vlad Siniagovskii, Andi Bajollari, and Julian Lopez took the top three spots.  Novello then secured another first-place finish for the women in the 500 Free to help clinch their victory in the meet.  Finally, with the women's meet already decided, the meet entered the final event of the day.  With the final result still hanging in the balance, the CSI men took first in the 200 Free Relay by three seconds.  Lopez, Poggiolio, Bajollari and Siniagovskii combined to earn the Dolphins the deciding victory and a three-point scoring advantage in the meet.

The Dolphins will be back in action on Wednesday as they visit another CUNYAC opponent in Brooklyn College.  The start time for that meet is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
