LAKEWOOD, NJ – The College of Staten Island women's soccer team plays the second of three straight conference matches this afternoon as they visit Georgian Court University (GCU) at noon. The Dolphins will be seeking their first-ever win over the Lions in the fifth meeting between the two programs and will be looking to snap a two-game losing skid.
The Dolphins were last in action on Wednesday for a rare road match played on their home turf at Dolphin Soccer Park. They would fall to the Cougars of Caldwell University 1-0 in a match which saw the team get outshot, 28-8. GCU ended an eight-match losing streak to begin their season during their last outing as they defeated Lincoln University (PA), 3-0. The Lions have also never lost to the Dolphins and possess a 2-0-2 record against CSI.
Five different Dolphins have scored a single goal this season with Isabella Schlee and Albana Gjonbalaj most recently joining the list of CSI goal scorers. The team also posted their two highest shot totals of the season against Goldey-Beacom and St. Thomas Aquinas College in consecutive matches on 9/27 and 10/1. Since then, the Dolphins have been held without a a goal and were limited to just 13 total shots in losses against D'Youville and Caldwell. In goal, Brianna Dore has not allowed multiple goals since the match against the Lightning last month bolstering her save percentage to nearly 75% on the season. Five Lions have found the back of the net this year led by Erynn Richey with two goals. Both of those came in the GCU win over Lincoln earlier in the week, and three of the seven GCU goals this season came in that victory. Five Lions goalkeepers have combined to allow over two goals per game on the year saving just below 75% of the shots they have faced.
