GAME DAY: MEN'S SOCCER WILL RECOGNIZE FOUR DURING SENIOR DAY VERSUS QUEENS

STATEN ISLAND, NY - The College of Staten Island men's soccer team will celebrate senior day on Saturday afternoon as they host East Coast Conference (ECC) opponent Queens College (NY) at Dolphins Soccer Park.

Matthew Beaton, Luis Ascencio Cueva, Badr Mesrar, and Tai Torres are among the seniors who will be recognized prior to kick off this afternoon.

CSI and Queens share a long-standing history, with their first meeting dating back to 1977, when the Dolphins earned a 2-1 victory. The two teams faced off regularly through 1987, but did not meet again until CSI entered the Division II era in 2021. The Dolphins' last win over the Knights came in 1985 on Staten Island. In their previous meeting, both teams battled through a competitive first half, with the Dolphins striking first to take an early lead. CSI held the edge until the 21st minute, when the Knights went on a scoring run and ultimately held the Dolphins scoreless the rest of the way, handing them a 6-2 defeat.

Queens currently sits atop the conference standings with a 9-2-2 overall record and a 4-0-1 mark in ECC play. The Dolphins are looking to bounce back following a draw against Goldey-Beacom. Tai Torres scored his first goal of the season in the 62nd minute, capitalizing on a rebound to give CSI a 1-0 lead. Queens, however, is coming off their second loss of the season after a non-conference shut out against Adelphi University on Wednesday.
