Men's and Women's Swim Recap vs. Adelphi and Felician

SWIMMING AND DIVING IGNITE CONFERENCE PLAY WITH ADELPHI AND FELICIAN

STATEN ISLAND, NY - The College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving team hosted its first Northeast-10 (NE10) meet of the season on Friday afternoon in the Tank, welcoming Adelphi University and Felician University.

The Dolphin men earned a 125.00–75.00 victory over Felician but fell to Adelphi, 168.00–60.00. On the women's side, CSI dropped both matchups, falling 128.00–89.00 to Adelphi and 146.00–59.00 to Felician.

Former NE10 Rookie of the Week, Maria Janecka, posted one of the top performances of the day, earning a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.90. She followed up with another top finisher showing in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in at 53.83. Polly Struck added another strong performance for the Dolphins, taking second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:57.73. Later in the meet, the freshman placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:12.11. 

Michalina Bukowska gave the women another top finish in third during the 500-freestyle and tapped the wall at 5:50.38. 

On the men's side, Vlad Siniagovskii recorded two second-place finishes — first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.36, and again in the 100-yard backstroke with a 55.54. William Kwan, the Week 1 NE10 Swimmer of the Week, placed third in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 5:04.05. James Curran added another third-place finish for the Dolphins in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:56.93, while John Kapp followed just two seconds behind to take fourth in the event.

Jacqueline DeFranco and Yubal Parra both competed in the 1-meter (6-dive) and 3-meter (6-dive) events, each securing overall victories. DeFranco posted scores of 234.40 in the 1M and 225.30 in the 3M.Parra, who is nationally ranked in both events, set new Tank and CSI program records with standout performances. In the 1M, where he holds a No. 7 national ranking, he scored 370.70, and in the 3M, where he is ranked No. 1 nationally, he earned a score of 363.70.

Both Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving will return to the Tank tomorrow, Oct. 25, to face another NE10 opponent, Saint Michael's College at 1:00 PM.
