STATEN ISLAND, NY - The College of Staten Island men's soccer team enters the final stretch of their regular season this weekend, beginning Saturday morning with an East Coast Conference (ECC) matchup against Mercy University in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
Mercy leads the all-time series with CSI, 6-0-2, with the first meeting dating back to 1978; a 3-2 victory for the Mavericks. Over the past three seasons, the teams have battled closely, with the 2021 and 2022 contests ending in scoreless draws. However, in 2024, the Dolphins fell 5-0 after a three-goal first half gave Mercy the momentum to add two more in the second.
The Dolphins are currently sitting with a 1-7-4 overall and 0-5-1 ECC record while the Mavericks are fourth in the conference standings with a 2-1-3 ECC record and 5-5-4 overall.
Wolfgang Alvarado and Peterson Larose continue to lead the Dolphins this season with six points and in the last two games, Larose controlled the offensive push for the Dolphins recording 11 shots. For Mercy, they house one individual with 12 points on four goals and four assists and other with 10 points on four goals and two assists.
