CSI KICK OFF INVITE SEES THREE RECORDS SHATTERED AND A NCAA QUALIFIER SECURED

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving team hosted the CSI Kick Off Invite on Saturday at The Tank in Staten Island, NY. The one-day, two-session meet featured the Dolphins competing against Kean University, Montclair State University, and Ramapo College of New Jersey. The women's team scored 100 points, while the men accumulated 121 points, earning third and second place respectively. Kean University's women captured the overall meet title with 196 points and Montclair State claimed the men's title with 226 points.

The women's team shattered three records during the meet, beginning with the opening event, the 200-yard freestyle relay. The quartet of Maja Tomaszewska, Nicole Conroy, Polly Struck, and Maria Janecka touched the wall with a final time of 1:43.07, setting a strong and positive tone to start the competition. Janecka continued her impressive collegiate debut with a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a time of 24.31. This performance marked the second record broken by the women's team during the meet. The rookie continued with first place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:57.35 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.59.

Struck, also making a strong impression in her debut, shined in session two for the women's team. She captured two first place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.42) and the 200-yard breastroke (2:39.54) and set a new record in the 400 IM with 4:53.31, earning second place in the event and marking the third record broken by the team.

Other top performances for the women include, Tomazewska's second place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:16.25), and the group of Conroy, Struck, Janecka and Michalina Bukowska who finished second in the 400-yard medley relay. 

Yubal Parra, the men's swimming and diving program's first-ever All-American, kicked off the 2025–26 season with a 1M Dive (11-dive) score of 512.70, earning an NCAA qualifying spot and continuing the strong form he displayed last season.

The men began the day with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Vlad Siniagovskii, Julian Lopez, William Kwan, and Andi Bajollari posted a time of 1:28.19. Later in the meet, John Kapp finished fourth in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:52.16, while Adria Garcia Fuentes also placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 1:53.43. 

Kwan battled in the 200-yard breaststroke and earned second place with a time of 2:15.08, while shortly after, Siniagovskii captured first place two events throughout the day, first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.30 and then the 200-yard backstroke in session two with a time of 1:56.69. In the 200-yard and 400-yard IM, Lopez finished second with a time of 2:00.52 and 4:27.67 respectively. Later, the 400-yard medley relay team, Bajollari, Tiki Keats, Dylan Martinson, and Hassan Matar, also secured second place, touching the wall at 3:53.08. In the second half of the meet, the men got off to a strong start with a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay; Siniagovskii, Kwan, Lopez, and Bajollari posted a time of 1:38.97. 

The men's and women's swimming and diving team will return to the Tank next Saturday, Oct. 11, to face FDU-Florham at 12:00 PM.
