10/9/2025 9:00:00 AM

WILMINGTON, DEL -  The College of Staten Island men's soccer team returns to non-conference action on Thursday afternoon with a matchup against Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Del. After a one-year hiatus, the Lightning hold a 2-0 all-time record against the Dolphins.

In their previous meeting during the 2023 season, the Dolphins held a 1-0 lead at halftime, but a strong second-half performance lifted the Lightning to a 3-1 victory.

The Dolphins are currently led by Wolfgang Alvarado, who has six points on three goals this season. Matthew Beaton added his name to the scoresheet with a goal against D'Youville on Saturday, Oct. 4, making him the fifth different goal scorer for CSI in 2025. The Lightning feature eight different goal scorers, with four players having scored two goals each. Goalkeeper Luca Schelling recorded a career-high nine saves last Wednesday against St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) and currently has 29 saves on the season.

After a 0-2 week, the Dolphins are looking to bounce back and return to the win column, while Goldey-Beacom aims to keep their momentum going following a crucial victory over former CACC champions, Felician University.
