SWIM AND DIVE COMPETE AGAINST PACE AND HUNTER ; THREE NEW STANDARDS ACHIEVED

STATEN ISLAND, NY - The College of Staten Island men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted Northeast 10 (NE10) opponent Pace University on Saturday morning at the Tank, with the women also facing Hunter College in a tri-meet.

The CSI men battled against Pace, but the Setters secured the overall victory by taking first place in the final three swimming events of the day, earning a 152.00–128.00 win. On the women's side, CSI split their tri-meet, defeating Hunter 177.00–79.00 but falling to Pace 155.00–120.00.

The men's squad opened the day strong with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay, finishing in 1:39.59. William Kwan followed with a dominant win in the 1000 freestyle (10:38.15), later adding a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:06.11) and a first-place showing in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.36). Julian Lopez (1:52.19), Adria Garcia Fuentes (1:57.41), and Andi Bajollari (1:57.61) placed second through fourth, respectively, in the 200 freestyle. Vlad Siniagovskii turned in standout performances with second-place finishes in both the 100 backstroke (56.07) and 200 backstroke (2:08.51), before taking first in the 50 freestyle (22.52).

On the boards, the NE10 Diver of the Week, Yubal Parra, continued his record-breaking form, resetting his own marks in both the 1M and 3M (6-dive) events with scores of 404.45 in the 1M and 396.10 in the 3M. For the women, Jacqueline DeFranco claimed first in the 1M dive (248.00) and second on the 3M (253.35).

For the CSI women, rookie Maria Janecka broke the program record in the 100 butterfly, touching the wall at 59.92 for the event win. She also earned first-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:59.25) and 100 freestyle (54.51), and helped lead CSI to a second-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay (1:55.14). Another newcomer posting an impressive rookie season, Polly Struck, teamed with Janeka in the relay and captured wins in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.98) and 200 breaststroke (2:35.18), along with a runner-up finish in the 200 IM (2:18.33). Maja Tomaszewska added another victory for CSI with a first-place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:03.33).

The Dolphins will close out the first half of their 2025–26 season on the road next Saturday, November 8, when they travel to Bronxville, NY, for a tri-meet against Sarah Lawrence College and Mount Saint Mary College (NY). Competition is set to begin at 1:00 PM.
