DOLPHINS SECURE WINS OVER SARAH LAWRENCE AND MOUNT SAINT MARY IN FIRST ROAD MEET

BRONXVILLE, NY - The College of Staten Island men's and women's swimming and diving teams hit the road for the first time this season on Saturday as they visited Sarah Lawrence College for a tri-meet.

Both the CSI men and CSI women earned two victories on the afternoon as they competed against Sarah Lawrence (SLC) and Mount Saint Mary College (MSMC).  The men defeated the Gryphons 147-15 and scored a 155-33 victory over the Knights.  In the closest result of the afternoon, the CSI women narrowly defeated the Gryphons, 101-91.  Against the Knights, the CSI women earned a decisive 134-41 victory. 

The Dolphins got off to a strong start and never slowed down as they scored decisive wins in each 200 yard medley relay.  In the 1000 free Maria Janecka (11:59.36) earned first-place points for the women while Julian Lopez (11:01.49) placed first for the men.  James Curran next placed first for the Dolphins with a time of 1:59.71 in the 200 free while Vlad Siniagovskii (22:39) took the top spot in the 50 free.

The next first place points for the CSI women came from Janecka in the 400 IM with a time of 4:55.09.  Andi Bajollari then placed first in the same event for the men with a time of 4:51.28.  Janecka placed first for the third time in the meet with a 55:57 mark in the 100 free, and Bajollari (50.74) placed first in the same event for the men. Maja Tomaszewska (2:17.04) and Lopez (2:07.31) each placed first in the 200 yard backstroke.  This was immediately followed by Michalina Bukowska (5:58.34) and Yassin Hussein (5:41.37) placing first in the 500 free.

Polly Struck earned a decisive victory in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:34.50, nearly 20 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.  Moments later, William Kwan (2:20.20), Lopez (2:25.08), and Hassan Matar (2:25.09) placed at the top of the field in the same event for the men.  To close the meet, the Dolphins earned another pair of relay wins in the 200 yard free relay.

The Dolphins will return to Northeast 10 competition in their next meet on November 21 when they visit Southern Connecticut State University.  That meet will see the Dolphins travel to New Haven, CT for a 4:00 PM start against the Owls.
