STATEN ISLAND, NY - The College of Staten Island women's basketball team enjoyed a successful non-conference week. The Dolphins rallied at home to defeat American International, 65–63, on a buzzer-beater before securing another win against a Northeast-10 opponent with a 72–65 victory over Pace.
Racky Kane, named East Coast Conference (ECC) Player of the Week, led the Dolphins with dominant performances. She scored 16 and 19 points in the two games respectivley, averaging 17.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game for the week. Against American International, Kane sealed the win with a game-winning buzzer-beater putback. In the victory over Pace, she recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 3-for-5 (60%) from beyond the arc, her best long-range shooting performance of the season.
Arielle Barnes earned her first ECC Rookie of the Week honor on Monday after averaging 11.0 points, 3.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. She shot 5-9 (56%) from the field against American International, scoring 13 points, her highest total of the week. Against Pace, Barnes added 10 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals while shooting 7-13 (54%) from the floor.
The Dolphins will be on break until the new year and return to action at The Tank on Jan. 2 at 1:00 p.m. against Assumption University.
