PARRA NAMED DIVER OF THE MEET AS DOLPHINS PUT TOGETHER RECORD-SETTING PERFORMANCE AT NE-10 CHAMPIONSHIP

Worcester, MA - The College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving Team competed at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship this weekend in their final meet of the 2024-2025 season.  The team broke numerous program records and collected several medals during a highly successful second appearance in the NE-10 Championship.  

Thursday, February 13, 2025
The Dolphins wasted no time setting a new program record on the first day of the 2025 NE-10 Championship in the very first event of the meet on Thursday night.  Competing in the 800-Yard Freestyle Relay final, Jessica Johnson broke the 200-Yard Free record as she opened the relay for the Dolphins with a time of 1:57.11.  Her performance breaks a longstanding record set by Ewa Wojciechowskia in 2017.  The CSI women placed seventh in the event as a team while the men took seventh.  Lastly, in Thursday's preliminary Diving session Jordan Swanson and Jacqueline DeFranco posted scores of 322.90 and 318.85, placing second and fifth respectively.

The first A-finalist for the Dolphins on day two of this weekend's meet was David Fayngersh in the 200 IM.  Fayngersh posted a time of 1:55.77, good for seventh place.  Johnson became the second CSI A-finalist on the day when she competed in the 50-Yard Freestyle.  Johnson placed eighth in the event, and in the process she broke the program record for the event with a time of 24.63.  Vlad Siniagovskii narrowly missed reaching the A-Final in the 50 Free as well.  However, he won the B-Final and posted a time of 21.25 that would have been for fifth in the A-final.

In the first of two relays, the CSI men narrowly missed surpassing a program record in the 200 Free Relay finishing .06 seconds behind the current record of 1:26.77.  However, they did manage to set a new record in the 400 Yard Medley Relay as Siniagovskii, Fayngersh, Anthony Attenborough and Andi Bajollari combined to place fourth with a time of 3:28.58.  The Dolphins would then go on to collect two medals in Diving.  First Yubal Parra took the gold in 1-Meter Diving for the men with a score of 497.85, over 100 points ahead of his closest competitor.  Finally, Jordan Swanson added another medal to her championship resume taking the silver in 3-Meter Diving with a score of 349.60.

The Dolphins opened day three at the NE-10 Championship with an A-finalist in the 400 IM as William Kwan placed seventh with a time of 4:13.31.  Julian Lopez also placed tenth overall after qualifying for the B-Final and posting a time of 4:13.05.  Anthony Attenborough then earned the Dolphins another medal with a second-place finish in the 100 Fly.  The senior finished less than two-tenths of a second off the first-place pace.  Two Dolphins placed seventh in the A-Final of the 100 Breast, Jessica Johnson for the women and David Fayngersh for the men.  Vlad Siniagovskii later earned CSI another medal in 100 Back with a time of 50.12.

The Dolphins continued their impressive showing at this year's NE-10 Championship on Sunday with a new program record in a 200-Yard Medley Relay time trial.  Vlad Siniagovskii , David Fayngersh, Anthony Attenborough, and Julian Lopez combined to post a time of 1:33.78, about one second ahead of the previous record set in 2014.  Siniagovskii later appeared in the A-Final for the 200 Back and placed sixth with a time of 1:55.86.  In the Women's 100 Free, Jessica Johnson placed seventh with a time of 53.50, another new program record.  Attenborough would place eighth in the same event soon after with a time of 47.73.  In the 200 Breast, Fayngersh took fifth in the A-Final with a time of 2:09.47 and William Kwan took ninth claiming the top spot in the B-Final.  Nicholas Tartaglione also took the top spot in a B-Final in the 200 Fly, and both the CSI men and women placed 400 Free Relay squads in their respective A-Finals.

Lastly, the Dolphins claimed two more medals in Diving as Jordan Swanson and Yubal Parra each earned their second medal of the weekend.  First, Swanson took the bronze in 1-Meter Diving with a score of 329.40.  Parra then scored a massive win in the Men's 3-Meter Diving final with a score of 496.65.  This put him nearly 200 points ahead of his next closest competitor and helped him earn Diver of the Meet honors to conclude his weekend.
