West Chester, PA - The College of Staten Island Track & Field Team competed for the first time in the Outdoor season during the past two days at the 2025 Purple and Gold Invitational.  This weekend's meet was the first time that the Dolphins have competed since the 2025 East Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship, and CSI was part of a very crowded field that included 21 men's and 21 women's programs.  Overall, the CSI women placed 12th in a field of 21.  The CSI men placed 19th in a field of the same size.

The first top-10 performance for the CSI men came from Nicholas Runfola in the 200-Meter.  Runfola was tied for tenth in a field of 71 with a time of 24.49s.  Also in the top half of the field were Sam Whelan and Jeremiah Downer who both registered times just inside of 24 seconds.  The 400-Meter also saw a trio of CSI men finish in the top half of the field.  Competing in a field of 48, Whelan placed 8th, Christopher O'Brien placed 12th, and Downer placed 23rd.  Four Dolphins, Matthew Amato, Walter Gavilanes, Pedro Astudillo, and Shawn Rampadarathsing, competed in the 5000-Meter placing 8th through 11th respectively.  In the field, both Dominik Hric and Jamel Reynolds competed in the Discus placing 15th and 21st.  For Hric, his distance of 27.93 in the event set a new program record.  Hric also took 8th in the Hammer with a distance of 32.33m, and Stephen Lau placed 12th in the Javelin with a distance of 31.61m.

The highest placement of the meet for the CSI women belonged to Inioluwa Ogunfowora in the 100-Meter as she placed fourth in a field of 36 with a time of 13.33s.  Equally impressive was Adonijah Washington who placed seventh in a field of 66 in the 200-Meter with a time of 27.10s.  Precious Dillon and Ogunfowora were close behind as well placing 12th and 16th respectively.  Also just inside the top half of the field was Alexandra Tavarez with a time of 29 seconds.  In the 400-Meter, three Dolphins, Washington, Tavarez, and Alexis Doyle, placed 12th through 14th in a field of 32.  Washington's time of 1:05.30 set the first of two program records in the meet for the CSI women.  In distance events, Angelina Guerriero and Alexandrea Jackson competed in the 1500, and Elizabeth Nicotra competed in the 5000.  For Nicotra, her time of 22:13.08 set a new program record surpassing her own effort from last season.
