TRACK & FIELD FINISHES TCNJ INVITE WITH THREE NEW PROGRAM RECORDS

Ewing, NJ - The College of Staten Island Track & Field Team completed a three-day meet with final day at the TCNJ Invite on Saturday.  Competing in the Heptathlon were Angelina Guerriero and Adonijah Washington.  In the Decathlon, the CSI men are being represented by Jeremiah Downer.  More CSI student-athletes joined the meet on Friday to compete in additional Throws events, and the rest of the Dolphins joined the meet on Saturday.  Ultimately, three new program records were set, and several more personal bests were achieved during the three days in Ewing.

THURSDAY
Downer placed first in two separate events on the first day of competition.  In the 100-Meter, he took first with a personal best time of 11.32s, and in the Long Jump he posted a distance of 6.38m.  In the Heptathlon, Guerriero placed fifth in the Shot Put with a PR of 8.05m.  In the 200-Meter, Guerriero posted a time of 31.04s, and in the 100 Hurdles she posted a time of 23.41s.  In the 100 Hurdles, Washington took second with a time of 15.59s.  She also posted a season-best time of 26.51s in the 200-Meter, and a season-best 1.41m in the High Jump.  Finally, she achieved a PR in the Shot Put with a distance of 6.94m.

FRIDAY
The Decathlon continued on Friday with one event on the track and three more in the field for Downer.  First, he posted a PR of 52.24 in the 400-Meter.  He then posted a distance of 17.16m in the Discus and 8.14m in the Shot Put.  Lastly, Downer posted a distance of 28.70 in the Javelin Throw.  For the CSI women, Guerriero took second in the Javelin Throw and set a new program record with a distance of 30.16m.  In the same event, Washington placed 12th with a distance of 14.75m.  In the Long Jump, Washington posted a program record distance of 5.20m and Guerriero reached a personal best 3.96m.  On the track, the duo placed seventh and eighth in the 800-Meter.  In Throws, Dominik Hric achieved a distance of 30.37m in the Hammer Throw.  However, the other CSI throwers did not get the chance to compete.

SATURDAY
Saturday featured plenty of Dolphins in action on the track, several of whom posted finishes in the top ten.  First, Vincent Ohenhen and Nicholas Runfola finished second and fifth respectively in the 100-Meter.  Sam Whelan then took fourth in the 200-Meter and Ibrahima Diallo placed sixth in the 400-Meter.  For the CSI women, Alexandrea Jackson took seventh in the 400 Hurdles and Eilzabeth Nicotra posted a PR with a time of 5:20.80 in the 1500.  In the 1500, both Josmy Cerda and Walter Gavilanes also achieved PR's for the CSI men.  Finally, Downer set a new program record with his performance in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 20.89s.


The Dolphins will have two more meets before the ECC Championship beginning with the Rider Invite on April 19th.
