GAMEDAY: BASEBALL FACES STAC IN HOME DOUBLEHEADER WITH POSTSEASON RACE HEATING UP

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Baseball Team returns home for a conference doubleheader against St. Thomas Aquinas College today with the race for the ECC postseason heating up. The Dolphins enter the day 13-23 on the year and 7-6 in conference play, currently second in the ECC standings. The Spartans are 9-24 on the years and 4-9 in conference play, currently sixth in the conference. Both CSI and STAC remain very much alive in the chase for the playoffs following the results from around the conference during the past 48 hours. Three teams in the conference, including STAC, have either four or five conference wins on the season. The other three teams, including the Dolphins, have seven or more wins. With a sweep today, the Dolphins would move one step closer to locking up a playoff spot. That would leave open the possibility that the Dolphins clinch before taking the field against D'Youville on the season's final weekend. On the other side, STAC is in desperate need of conference wins to keep their playoff hopes alive. Though they are just one game behind fourth place in the win column, they have played two more games than both five-win teams in the ECC.
