STONY BROOK, NY -The College of Staten Island men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Golden Eagle Invitational in Stony Brook, NY, on Saturday morning. The Dolphins put forth a strong showing, with the women placing second out of 12 teams. Freshman Adriana Roa highlighted the day by shattering the program's 5K record with an outstanding performance. On the men's side, CSI secured an eighth-place finish in the 8K race.

At last week's LIU Fall Festival,  Roa came within 15 seconds of breaking the women's 5K record. This week, she officially made it her own, finishing 5th out of 85 runners with a time of 20:06.60. Her overall finish marks the highest placement since CSI entered its Division II era.

Mahawa Kouyate and Anna Carafiol finished with seconds of each other as Kouyate came in 17th at 22:37 and Carafiol in 18th at 22:41.

On the men's side, the top two performers were Peter Galletta and Jehu Ermilus. Within a two-second span, the pair crossed the finish line in 23rd and 24th place with Galletta in front with a time of 30:21 and Ermilus at 30:23.

CSI Men's and Women's Cross Country will return to action next Saturday for the Fred Pavlich Invitational in New York.
