ALVARADO TALLIES NEUTRALIZING GOAL FOR DRAW WITH DOMINICAN (NY)

STATEN ISLAND, NY -The College of Staten Island men's soccer team hosted Dominican University (NY) on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup at Dolphins Soccer Park. After a scoreless first half, the Chargers broke the deadlock with a penalty kick goal in the final seven minutes. However, just moments later, the Dolphins netted the equalizer, securing a 1-1 draw.

Both teams were evenly matched throughout the first half, with the Dolphins recording seven shots to the Chargers' six. Anthony Benvenuto and Alonso Villegas led the offensive effort with two shots each in an attempt to shatter the ice on the board.

Wolfgang Alvarado sparked the second half with a shot less than 50 seconds in, as CSI dominated the offensive end with eight attempts. Despite their pressure, the Chargers capitalized on a late penalty kick, placing it in the bottom left corner to take a 1-0 lead over the Dolphins. Peterson Larose took a shot on a free kick that earned the Dolphins a corner, setting up a key scoring opportunity. Larose delivered the cross, and Alvarado headed the ball into the far corner of the net to tie the game at 1-1.

As a result, the Dolphins are now 1-3-2 overall and will return to Dolphins Soccer Park on Saturday for an East Coast Conference (ECC) matchup with Molloy University at 2:30 PM.
