STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island women's basketball team will host an East Coast Conference (ECC) matchup against the Queens College Knights on Wednesday evening at the Tank. Both teams enter the contest looking to snap recent losing skids, as the Dolphins have dropped three games over the past two weeks, two ECC and one non-conference, while the Knights have suffered back-to-back ECC losses.
Dolphins Look to Maintain Series Advantage
During the 2024–25 season, the Dolphins secured a regular-season sweep of the Knights with victories of 68–60 and 70–52 in which gave CSI the edge in the all-time series, now leading 5–3.
In the first meeting last season, the Dolphins earned a 68–60 road win in Flushing, NY, opening the game with a commanding 26–11 first-quarter lead. Senior Kyra Rose led the effort with 12 points, a team-high seven rebounds, and three steals. Weeks later, CSI returned home and dominated once again, pulling away for a 70–52 win behind a decisive 21–11 fourth quarter.
Rose Leading the Charge
The Dolphins have been consistently powered by Rose throughout the 2025–26 campaign. The senior leads the team in nearly every major statistical category, including points, rebounds, steals, assists, and field goal percentage. She paces CSI with 13.0 points per game while shooting 48% from the field, along with 7.7 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 2.7 assists per contest.
Among ECC leaders, Rose ranks seventh in both scoring and rebounding and sits fifth in field goal percentage.
Record Comparisons
Queens currently sits two spots below the Dolphins in the ECC standings. CSI remains in the middle of the pack following a win over St. Thomas Aquinas two weeks ago. The Knights enter the matchup with a 2–6 conference record and a 4–14 overall mark, while the Dolphins stand at 3–5 in ECC play and 7–13 overall.
Individual Scoring Comparison
Rose leads the Dolphins offensively, followed by Shonyae Edmonds and Racky Kane as the team's other double-digit scorers. Edmonds averages 10.5 points per game while adding 7.1 rebounds, and Kane contributes 10.2 points per game while leading the team with 18 blocks on the season.
Dana Phelan has found her rhythm from beyond the arc in recent weeks, finishing last week's two-game stretch with seven made three-pointers—five of which came against Caldwell last Wednesday. She leads the team with 27 made three-pointers on the season.
Queens is led by two student-athletes averaging double figures at 14.6 and 14.2 points per game, ranking fourth and sixth in the ECC scoring standings. The Knights also feature the conference's top rebounder, who averages 11.1 rebounds per game, including 6.0 offensive boards, with 108 of her rebounds coming on the offensive end.
