POMONA, NY – The College of Staten Island baseball team returns to Clover Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader against St. Thomas Aquinas College, continuing a four-game East Coast Conference (ECC) series. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 12:00 PM.

The Dolphins opened the series in dominant fashion on Thursday night, cruising to a 20-2 victory. The performance secured a place in the CSI Division II record book, as the team posted the fifth-highest single-game run total (20), the second-most hits (19), and tied for the second-most home runs in a game with four.
Individually, Jamel Vera matched the program record for RBI in a single game with seven, highlighted by a pair of three-run home runs. Jaden Waterman and Brandon Bartick each scored four runs, tying for the most in a single game, while Vincent Weigele recorded his 100th career hit in the eighth inning.
CSI's offensive surge has propelled the team to the top of the conference with a .321 batting average. On the mound, Michael Furst and Aiden Kielty combined to hold the Spartans to just two runs. Furst earned the win, allowing two runs over 5.0 innings with three strikeouts, while Kielty closed out the final 4.0 innings with four strikeouts.
Current Standings
With much of the 2026 season still ahead, the Dolphins sit in the middle of the ECC standings with a 3-5 conference record, while the Spartans are tied for second at 5-3. St. Thomas Aquinas also holds the top overall mark in the conference at 14-6 (.700).
Individual Leaders
Following his standout performance on Thursday, Vera now leads the Dolphins with a .403 batting average, along with three home runs, four doubles, and 18 RBI. He ranks second in the conference in batting average, trailing only St. Thomas Aquinas' top hitter at .474.
Michael Flashner is batting .383 with 23 hits and 12 RBI, while Jandel Brito ranks third on the team with a .375 average. Jason Romance leads the team with four home runs and has added 22 runs scored and 14 RBI. On the mound, Furst leads the staff with a 5.09 ERA and 20 strikeouts across 23.0 innings pitched. Kielty follows with a 6.20 ERA and 17 strikeouts.
The Spartans continue to showcase a strong lineup, with multiple hitters producing at a high level, including averages of .371 and .360 among their top contributors.
