GAME DAY: BASEBALL FEATURES FOUR GAME SERIES WITH MERCY; DOLPHINS CELEBRATE SENIOR DAY ON FRIDAY

DOBBS FERRY, NY – The College of Staten Island baseball team will take part in a four-game weekend series against Mercy University, beginning Thursday, April 23 with a single game in Dobbs Ferry at 3:00 PM. The Dolphins will then return home on Friday to host a doubleheader, highlighted by Senior Day celebrations prior to game one. The series will conclude on Sunday with Mercy serving as the home team.

CSI will honor graduate students Jaden Waterman and Nicholas Chiaia, along with seniors Vincent Weigele, Chris Reilly, Alex Martinez, Ryan Fiore, and Aidan Kielty, in a pregame ceremony for their senior day celebrations.

April 3-4, 2026 Recap
The two teams met earlier this month for an East Coast Conference (ECC) and non-conference doubleheader series, where Mercy completed a four-game sweep of the Dolphins.

Following the sweep, CSI now trails in the all-time series, 27-12, and enters the weekend on a five-game losing streak against the Mavericks. The Dolphins' last win over Mercy came on April 4, 2025, a 9-4 victory in Dobbs Ferry.

Record Insights
Mercy currently sits in third place in the ECC standings with a 12-10 conference record and is tied with St. Thomas Aquinas as both teams push for the No. 2 seed. Each ECC team has completed 22 conference games to this point in the season.

The Dolphins enter the series with a 6-16 conference record through 22 games, trailing Queens College in the standings. CSI will look to improve its position and strengthen its postseason chances with a strong showing this weekend.

Individual Leaders
Jack Kehoe leads the Dolphins offensively with a .366 batting average, totaling 41 hits, 21 RBI, nine doubles, and two home runs. Michael Flashner follows with a .339 average and a team-high 43 hits. Jason Romance ranks third, batting .331 while leading the team with 29 RBI and six home runs. Jamel Vera has scored a team-best 36 runs and is tied with Romance with 29 RBI, while Waterman ranks second on the team with four home runs.

On the mound, Michael Furst leads CSI with a 5.59 ERA, one save, and 26 strikeouts. Ryan Palm holds a 6.00 ERA with 16 strikeouts, while Chiaia leads the staff with 35 strikeouts and owns a 9.57 ERA.

Mercy is powered offensively by two hitters batting in the high .300s, including a team leader hitting .394 with 41 hits and 23 RBI. Another key contributor is batting .380 with 36 hits and 22 RBI, while a third standout leads the team with 51 hits, batting .345 with 27 RBI.

On the pitching side, the Mavericks are anchored by a top arm with a 2.56 ERA and 48 strikeouts across 10 appearances. Another key pitcher holds a 4.64 ERA and leads the staff with 51 strikeouts.
