UNIONDALE, NY – The College of Staten Island baseball team will close out its regular season with a four-game East Coast Conference (ECC) series against Molloy University, beginning Thursday afternoon with a single game at 3:30 p.m. The Dolphins will host a doubleheader on Friday, April 30, before the series concludes on Saturday with a final single game at 3:00 p.m., designated as a Molloy home contest. All games will be played at Mitchel Field Athletic Complex in Uniondale, NY.
March 14, 2026 Recap
The Dolphins and Lions first met earlier this season on March 14 to open ECC play, where Molloy swept the doubleheader by scores of 23-11 and 14-5.
In game one, the Lions used an eight-run third inning to build an 11-0 lead, which later grew to 16-0 by the fifth. Jason Romance sparked the Dolphins' offense with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth, while Jack Kehoe and Julian Velazquez contributed to a five-run inning in an effort to cut into the deficit. Despite additional contributions from Vincent Weigele and Jandel Brito, CSI fell 23-11.
In game two, Molloy jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. Trailing 4-0 in the third, Michael Flashner delivered a two-run home run to bring CSI within two. The Dolphins were held in check for much of the game, managing three runs in the final inning but ultimately falling 14-5.

Molloy enters the series atop the ECC standings with a 23-3 conference record and a 33-8 overall mark, earning a tie for 30th in the ABCA poll. CSI sits at 13-26 overall and 8-18 in conference play, just one game behind Queens.
The Dolphins are seeking their first win over the Lions since March 20, 2025, when they earned an 8-7 extra-inning walk-off victory in Staten Island.

Jamel Vera follows with a .326 average, 46 hits, 29 RBI, eight doubles, three triples, and three home runs. Michael Flashner is hitting .324, while Jason Romance leads the team with six home runs and 31 RBI, along with a .313 average.
On the mound, freshman Ryan Palm has emerged as a key contributor, posting a 5.52 ERA with a 2-2 record, two saves, and 17 strikeouts across 44.0 innings. Nicholas Chiaia leads the staff with 40 strikeouts in 40.2 innings, while Michael Furst has recorded 31 strikeouts and a 6.17 ERA.
Molloy's offense is led by a .387 hitter with 60 hits, 43 RBI, and 10 home runs, while additional contributors are batting .367 and .353 with strong run production. On the mound, the Lions feature the ECC leader in ERA at 2.49, along with a 6-1 record and 72 strikeouts in 61.1 innings. Two additional pitchers have posted ERAs of 3.29 and 3.61, respectively.
