STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island women's soccer team officially kicks off its 2026 campaign on Monday afternoon, welcoming Dominican University (NY) to Dolphins Soccer Park for a 12:00 PM matchup. The contest will also mark the head coaching debut of Maddy Wright, who takes the reins of the Dolphins program with a clear vision for the future of the program: "I want to build something sustainable that players are proud to be a part of."

2025 Meeting Recap:
The Dolphins and Chargers last met at Dolphins Soccer Park on Sept. 24, 2025, with the two teams battling to a scoreless 0-0 draw through 90-minutes of play. Dominican held a 16-6 advantage in shots, including 10 in the second half. Caitlyn Thompson led the Dolphins with three shots, while Riley Hammond added two, with both players recording a shot on goal.

2026 Dolphin Statistics Preview:
The Dolphins return several key contributors from last season, including Thompson, Hammond, and Sara O'Donnell. Thompson earned ECC Offensive Player of the Week honors after recording five points in a victory over Lincoln (Pa.) in October 2025.

In goal, Oksana Zahirna put together a record-setting season in 2025. She recorded a program-record 22 saves against Saint Michael's College on Sept. 17 before following that performance with 18 saves against Mercy on Oct. 25. Zahirna finished the season with 53 saves across five appearances for the Dolphins.

2026 Dominican Statistics Overview:
The Chargers were originally scheduled to open their 2026 season at home against St. Thomas Aquinas College last Wednesday, but that contest was postponed to a later date. As a result, Monday's matchup with CSI will serve as Dominican's season opener.

Dominican holds a 1-0-1 advantage in the all-time series. The Chargers earned their first victory over the Dolphins in the teams' inaugural meeting in 2024, securing a 4-3 win on a late goal.
