Led by sophomore forward Haluk Erdogen, who tallied a hat trick with all three goals of the game, the Maritime men's soccer team the College of Staten Island, 3-0, Friday evening at Reinhart Field. The win, the Privateers' second in a row, moves the squad's record to 2-3 overall on the season, while the Dolphins fell to 0-6-1. 

CSI controlled the first five minutes of the game, as the Dolphins recorded the first shot of the contest just four minutes in, which had to be blocked by the Maritime defense. After that, however, the Privateers took over control. Freshman forward James Cole was winning one-on-one battles and beating the opponents to the ball to record three shots just 25 minutes into the game. Despite having seven shots, including a missed penalty kick, Maritime wasn't able to find the back of the net.

That was until Erdogen was substituted onto the pitch and found the back of the net in the 38th minute. He received a pass down the left side from freshman Yunus Yildiz and beat CSI's Ahmed El-Ghareib to the left. The scored remained 1-0 into the half. He would score again just five minutes later after a scramble in front of the Dolphins' net – junior Kevin Connolly found Erdogen after a scrum down low and he blasted a shot into the top left corner from five yards out.

After the halftime break, in the 60th minute, Erdogen struck for is hat trick goal on a breakaway. He beat the keeper into the bottom right side of the net. In goal for Maritime, sophomore Michael Vanadia picked up the second win and shutout of his career with the victory.

CSI returns to action on Sunday when they host Baruch College in conference action at 12 Noon.
