Box Score The College of Staten Island men's baseball team fell for the second straight time, dropping a 4-0 decision to Kean University in a non-conference test on Tuesday. CSI served as the home team despite the game being moved to Kean University's facility just hours before first pitch. CSI fell to 11-10 with the loss, while the Cougars improved to 18-4.
The Cougars used a balanced scoring attack plating single runs in the first, second, fifth and eighth. In the top half of the first senior Ken Gregory lined a two-out RBI double scoring junior Lee Cavico who reached on a single. In the second, junior Vinny Galya recorded a fielder's choice RBI with the bases loaded.
Kean pushed across another run in the fifth as Cavico reached on a double and scored on Gregory's RBI single. Senior Kyle Walker scored the game's final run in the eighth on a wild pitch after leading off the frame with a walk.
Senior Chris Cirlincione earned the win for the Cougars. Cirlincione (3-0) tossed six innings allowing just five singles while striking out one. Freshman Nick Zucchero and southpaw Brandon Bujnowski combined for the final three innings allowing just one hit. CSI's Pat Gale suffered the loss. Gale (3-3) allowed three runs and five hits while walking seven and striking out five.
Offensively Cavico was 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Gregory was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Gale, who also batted for himself in the matchup, was 2-for-4 for the Dolphins.
CSI returns toaction Wednesday night, hosting New Jersey City University for a single game at 7pm at the CSI Basbeball Complex.
