Berkeley College-NY defeated College of Staten Island's men's soccer, 2-0, in an even matchup at the CSI Soccer Complex late Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins fall to a 1-3-1 record while Berkeley extends their win column to 2-4.
Coming off the bench, Berkeley's David Mugenga had both goals. His first goal was scored at the 30:26 mark with a pass from Daisei Hiwaki. Mugenga got through two CSI defenders to kick the ball in past the tips of CSI's diving goalie
Ahmed El-Ghareib. His second goal came eight minutes later as Claes Magnusson gave him a lead pass for a hard shot through the mouth of the net.
Both teams totaled 13 shots apiece, CSI with eight on goal and Berkeley with nine on goal. The Knights totaled seven offsides to CSI's one.
Mugenga had five totaled shots for the Knights while CSI's Lirim Begain had four with three on goal.
Camilo Montes had seven saves in goal for Berkely in 55 minutes of play while CSI's El-Ghareib had seven saves.
Each team had one yellow card due to hard fouls: CSI's
Arber Islami and Berkeley's Hiwaki.
The Dolphins will be back in action on Wednesday, September 21 as they take on York College at 4:00 pm.
