DOLPHINS DROP TWO TO STEVENS TECH

Joe Cassano had two hits for CSI despite the doubleheader losses.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Dolphins dropped two games to Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday evening at the Sports and Recreation Center. The Ducks took game one by a score of 3-1 before winning game two, 2-0. CSI falls to a 6-10 record while the Ducks extend to a 5-3 record.
 
Stevens Tech scored a run in the 2nd inning off of a CSI error to put the score at 1-0. The Ducks stretched the score to 3-0 in the third as Matt Glassman and Tom Philips got on with singles and was put in scoring position off of TJ Alcorn fielder's choice RBI.
 
The Dolphins were able to add one run in the bottom of the seventh with the help of an RBI single from Luis Ortiz, however it was not enough as they left the inning with two runners on.
 
In game two, the Ducks scored the only two runs they would need in the fifth inning. After reaching on a lead off single, Michael Donovan scored off of Glassman's RBI single. Dan Allen followed with a double down the left field line to score Glassman.
 
The Dolphins had a few chances to score ending the game with a total of six runners left on base.
 
“We're going through a rough stretch,” said Head Coach Mike Mauro, “We'll overcome it, we just need to get our momentum back and we'll be on our way.”
 
Richard Anderson suffered the loss in game one pitching a complete game with five strikeouts and allowing just four hits. Mike Van Pelt, also pitched a complete game in the second contest, with four strikeouts.
 
“Our pitchers are doing great,” stated Mauro, “We're still optimistic that we can turn this season around.”
 
Joe Cassano and Luis Ortiz had two hits apiece on the night while Glassman led for the Ducks with four hits and an RBI.
 
The Dolphins will be back in action on Saturday, March 24, as they travel to Lehman College for a doubleheader 12 noon conference match.
