Box Score The College of Staten Island women captured a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Purchase College Panthers to extend their overall record 4-1. The Panthers fall to a 1-4 season record.
Eighteen minutes into first period play, Purchase's Abigal Katz scored the first goal off of a cross pass from Samantha Second. Ten minutes later, the Panthers knocked in their second goal as Nathalie Lavelanet scored on an unassisted breakaway. Despite not scoring the first half, CSI tallied an equal six shots to Purchase's.
The Dolphins needed the halftime break to pull themselves together. Just 49 seconds into the second half,
Melissa Gelardi put the Dolphins on board with an assist from
Samantha Wysokowski. At the 75
th minute, Wysokowski had her turn scoring while Gelardi supplied the assist with a breakaway shot from the side to tie the game. Four minutes later,
Demi-Jean Martorano scored the unassisted breakaway goal for the win.
Victoria Donegan had six saves for the Dolphins as goalkeeper while Purchase's
Kristy Colangelo had seven saves.
The Dolphins totaled 15 shots as the Panthers had just nine in the second half.
