CSI TENNIS NIPPED BY FARMINGDALE, 5-4

Jean Baak was the only Dolphin to score wins in both singles and doubles in the loss
The College of Staten Island women's tennis team dropped a narrow decision on Saturday, falling to Farmingdale State in a non-conference test in Farmingdale, New York, 5-4.  CSI dipped to 1-3 with the loss while the Rams improved to 3-1.

Farmingdae got the advantage it needed after doubles play, taking two out of three flights.  CSI scored a win at the No. 2 position, where the team of Ilona Stoyko and Jean Baak outdid Laura Earlie and Amanda Vecchio, 8-0.  Playing with only five players, CSI was forced to concede the No. 3 position.

The same held true for the No. 6 Singles position, so CSI was behind 3-1 when singles began,  Needing four out of the five remaining flights to win, CSI came close but it was not to be.  The Dolphins won flights 3-5, with Baak, Mediha Mulla and Nataliya Zitser all taking wins.  Farmingdale State's Jessica Sickles and Alex Bentz both cruised at flights 1-2 to clinch the Rams victory.

CSI will return to action on Monday, when they travel to the Bronx to take on Lehman College at 4pm.
