Box Score The College of Staten Island women's soccer team ran their CUNYAC record to 2-0 and their sutout streak against CUNYAC opponents to 968 minutes, blanking York College, 1-0, in a match played at Aviater Field in Brooklyn, New York on saturday.  York College keeper Kiara Libreros was outstanding in goal for the Cardinals, who fell to 1-4-1 overall and 0-3 in CUNYAC.  The Dolphins, meanwhile, improved to 5-2, 2-0, respectively.

The Dolphins dominated the contest, keeping the ball on their side of the field for nearly the entire match and putting pressure on the York defense all afternoon long.  They took 19 shots on the day and kept Libreros busy between the pipes.

Libreros turned away shot after shot, making a couple of spectacular saves along the way.  But CSI finally broke through in the 58^th minute when Melissa Gelardi lofted a shot from 40 yards out and Demi-Jean Martorano deflected the ball into net when it came down.  For Martorano, it was the junior's seventh goal of the year and her third game-winner.  That would be the only blemish for Libreros on the day, who made ten saves, but it would be all CSI would need. 

CSI, who have not allowed a goal against a CUNYAC opponent since the 2010 CUNYAC Championship Game (a 3-1 loss to Medgar Evers College), clamped down defensively, allowing only a single Cardinals shot, which CSI keeper Victoria Donegan turned away in the shutout win. 

CSI will return to action on Tuesday, when they host New York University at 4:30pm at the CSI Soccer Complex.  They pick up conference play this coming Saturday against Medgar Evers College at 12 Noon, also at the CSI Soccer Complex.
