STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island women's tennis team made winning look easy during the opening round of the CUNYAC Postseason Tennis Tournament as the Dolphins swept the York Cardinals, 9-0, Sunday.
Â
CSI lead from the start, quickly moving through doubles play where the Dolphins only fell in a single game as the No.1 team of
Ilona Stoyko and
Sabrina Bragerton-Nasert and the No. 3 pairing of
Jacqueline Jamaleddine and
Michelle Kushnir both won their matches, 8-0. Playing at the No. 2 doubles spot was
Madiha Mulla and
Jean Baak, who defeated Geneva Faulk and Tenzin Kunchok, 8-1.
Â
Soon after making a clean sweep through doubles play, CSI moved over to singles where they found similar success. The Dolphins dominated the courts, winning all of their matches in straight sets. In fact, all CSI competitors won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 except for Stoyko, who defeated York's Maleeka Chin in the No. 1 spot, 7-5.
