STATEN ISLAND - It was a defensive battle on the pitch this afternoon as the College of Staten Island men's soccer team took on Old Westbury. The two teams were evenly matched throughout the contest, but the Panthers took the lead at the 72 minute mark, delivering the Dolphins a 1-2 loss, Monday.
The first half of play was strictly defense as neither team was able to capitalize on its scoring efforts. Old Westbury was first to strike when Michael Bayne took a shot from the top of the box at the two-minute mark, but CSI goalkeeper
Antonio Lynch was there with the save.

Alfonso Castaneda took the first shot for the Dolphins on a free kick from the top of box at the five-minute mark. The shot was high, but saved by OW goalie Peter Sicardi.
Despite their efforts, neither team scored during the first half of play. It wasn't until minute 58 when Old Westbury was able to put a point on the board after Anthony Ippolito chipped the ball into the goal on a pass off the foot of teammate DJ Stock. Nearly 11 minutes later, Ippolito scored again from the top of the box.

Michele Kissi who immediately headed it into the box.
Both CSI and Old Westbury put 16 shots up, Lynch tallied six saves on the afternoon while Sicardi put up nine, respectively.
The Dolphins are back in action on Thursday when they open up conference play at Baruch, with kick-off scheduled for 5 p.m.
