The College of Staten Island women's tennis team fell for the first time this season, dropping a road, non-conference test at the hands of Richard Stockton College by an 8-1 count. The Ospreys lifted their overall mark to 7-2 while the Dolphins fell to 6-1.
CSI registered their one and only point of the contest via No. 2 Doubles, where the team of
Jean Baak and
Nozima Toshpulatova earned a hard-fought, 8-5, winner over RSC's Colleen Anderson and Scout Bauer. The Ospreys Krystle Bendijo and Syndi Fahringer out-did CSI's
Sabrina Bragerton-Nasert and
Sophia Varriano in the top spot, 8-3, while Brynn Buechler and Gianna Letinski scored an 8-1 winner over CSI's
Jacqueline Jamaleddine and
Michelle Kushnir.
When play switched to singles, the Ospreys held control. RSC won the pole position and flights 2, 4, 5, 6 in straight sets.
Jean Baak at No. 3 Singles was a force, losing a tough three-set marathon to RSC's Kristy Faren, 5-7, 6-4, 10-6.
